A new community foundation has been established to help address needs and improve the quality of life of Monroe County residents through generous donor contributions.

ESSA Bank and Trust’s corporate headquarters in Stroudsburg hosted the launch of the Community Foundation of Monroe County (CFMC) on Oct. 19.

The board of directors includes Chairman Gary Olson, Vice Chairperson Meredith Rettaliata, Secretary/Treasurer Tricia Dunkelberger-Fritz, Karl Weiler and John Burrus. Samantha Holbert is the executive director.

A community foundation is a charity in which a pool of funds from individuals, businesses and nonprofits can grow and be used for charitable purposes, Holbert explained.
