The Monroe County Dementia Coalition is a group of like-minded individuals who come together to provide education, resources, and support to people living with dementia and their caregivers. Education, resources, and support will also be offered to caregivers and healthcare professionals in the community to help facilitate a shift in acknowledging the remaining strengths of the person living with dementia rather than focusing on what abilities have been lost. Also, for caregivers and professionals to focus on person-centered care and remaining abilities, as there are abilities at every level of dementia.
The person living with dementia and the caregiver, whether it be a spouse, family member, or professional caregiver, should not walk the dementia journey alone. A team needs to be created for support throughout the journey. The Monroe County Dementia Coalition plans to be on the journey with you by bringing education, resources, and support to Monroe County.
